The holidays are a time for family, celebration, and connection — but they can also bring us face-to-face with our differences. Around the table, we may find people we love dearly but don’t always agree with. Politics, faith, life choices — these can all feel magnified when we’re together.
At Wydown United Church, we believe faith isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about staying curious, humble, and rooted in love — especially when it’s hard. That’s what open-minded faith looks like.
Listening before speaking.
We don’t need to convince others to see the world our way. Sometimes the most faithful act is to simply listen.
Holding differences with grace.
We can stay true to what we believe while still showing kindness and respect to those who see things differently.
Leading with love.
Every conversation, even the tough ones, can be guided by compassion. Love is what connects us, even when opinions don’t.
Being open to growth.
Faith invites us to keep learning — from God, from Scripture, and from each other.
When you gather this season, try pausing before reacting, asking open questions, and looking for what you share rather than what divides. A simple prayer like, “God, help me lead with love,” can go a long way toward bringing peace to the table.
At Wydown United Church, we practice this kind of faith together — open-hearted, welcoming, and grounded in love that includes everyone. If you’re longing for a place where questions are welcome and belonging is real, we’d love to meet you.
