At Wydown United Church, we’ve always believed that no matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here. Our community is built on spirited worship, hands-on service, thoughtful discussion, and sincere fellowship. As our congregation continues to grow and evolve, we felt it was time for our visual identity to do the same.

We are excited to introduce our new logo and brand design — a fresh yet timeless reflection of our history, values, and place in the community.

The Process Behind the Rebrand

This rebrand has been a journey of honoring our past while embracing our future. We wanted a design that would:

• Reflect our historic roots – inspired by the iconic red doors of our sanctuary, which have welcomed generations of congregants.
• Capture our spirit of welcome – visually expressing our commitment to openness and inclusivity.
• Balance tradition and modernity – with design elements that feel both classic and forward-looking.
• Connect us to our community – drawing inspiration from where we’re located, where the city meets the county along the graceful curve of Wydown Boulevard.

Through thoughtful design exploration, we arrived at a visual identity that tells our story with clarity and purpose.

The Origin of Our New Logo

The new logo is full of intentional symbolism:

• The Red Doors: The bottom shape of the logo mimics double doors swinging open — a universal symbol of welcome. Hidden within is a subtle “W” for Wydown, reinforcing both our name and our spirit of openness.
• Upward Movement: The form repeats and rises upward, referencing the intricate woodwork of our actual doors. This upward motion conveys growth, aspiration, and faith.
• Typography Synergy: The typeface has been carefully modified to echo the “W” in the logomark, creating harmony between the wordmark and symbol, and balancing gothic cues with modern clarity.
• The Olive Branch: Positioned gracefully, the olive branch symbolizes peace, the Holy Spirit, and our welcoming presence. It also visually anchors our location — where city and county meet — with leaves reaching outward, representing our commitment to serving the broader community.

Together, these elements create a distinctive identity that is unmistakably Wydown: rooted in tradition, welcoming to all, and oriented toward growth and community connection.

Moving Forward

This rebrand is more than a new logo — it’s a renewed expression of who we are and what we believe. Our hope is that this refreshed identity will continue to invite neighbors, newcomers, and longtime members alike to see Wydown United Church as a place where faith, community, and justice meet.
